Participant Profile

Municipal Entity:            City of Rochester

Overview of water conservation plan:

  • The City replaces and/or rehabs water mains at an annual rate of approximately 1 percent.

  • Other programs include aggressive leak detection monitoring, water meter replacement, metering all water use, and high water use notification to customers accompanied by information on where to find leaks and how to address them.

  • The City's new Water Operations Center is in the process of LEED Gold Certification.

  • Planned activities to address water conservation include: annual mailing of a Water Conservation brochure, partially financing water use reduction equipment for low income customers, including low flow plumbing fixtures as part of the building code, and introducing water conservation tips on the City's website.
