Overview of water conservation plan:
- In 2004 a new tax was levied specifically ear-marked for water infrastructure renewal, as part of a $200 M per year special investment fund.
- Montreal is in the process of approving a $200M or more expenditure to fund a multi-year water meter installation program whereby approximately 29,000 new meters will be installed among commercial, industrial and institutional heavy users.
