Overview of water conservation plan (under development):

  • Town-wide metering instituted in the mid 1990's; currently there are approximately 12,000 accounts.
  • The Town provides free low flow showerheads, toilet dams, and dye tablets to assess toilet leakage.
  • The Town's water bylaw provides for the issuing of lawn water restrictions as may be warranted.
  • The Town has a number of distribution leak detection programs, including IWA audit program, District Zone Metering, Electronic Leak Sounding, and Pipe Correlation.
  • The Town of Fort Erie is also participating in the water conservation initiatives as have been identified under the Region of Niagara Water Quality Protection Strategies.  For more information, click here.
