Water conservation achievements to date:

  • The City of Chicago has already exceeded the 15% target.  The City’s water usage has declined from 646.635 MGD in 2000 to 544.436 MGD in 2006, representing a 15.8% reduction.
  • The City’s focused water main replacement program has a target rate of replacement of 1% of the 4,230 mile system per year. The historical average is 15 miles / year.
