Overview of water conservation plan:

  • The City's 2007-2010 strategic plan contemplates equipping all municipal buildings with water efficient plumbing and a public education campaign. 
  • The City’s water tax includes the cost to purchase treated water from the neighboring city as well as the administrative and operational costs involved in the delivery of the treated water and recovery of used water. 

Water conservation achievements to date:

  • The City of Beaconsfield has had water metering in every business and home since the 1960s and an active leak detection campaign since 1980s.
  • Beginning in 2007, the City launched a 13 year infrastructure renewal program requiring an annual expenditure of $2.5 million, partially offset by federal government.
  • The City is installing automated meter reading technology
