Implementation of its Climate Action Plan on Lake Michigan
The City of Evanston has taken an important step towards reducing its carbon emissions: an inventory of municipal emissions and the establishment of an action plan. After Mayor Lorraine H. Morton of Evanston signed on to the U.S. Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement in 2006, the city started to collect data to calculate the community's total carbon emissions. The inventory classified the quantity of GHG by activities and sectors. The inventory formed the basis of Evanston's Climate Action Plan.
