Stormwater Management Pond Information
Collingwood together with the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority ensure that stormwater runoff meets all required quality and quantity requirements through Stormwater Management Ponds (SWMPS). SWPS are facilities designed to collect runoff from the local storm sewer system following either a rainfall or snowmelt event, or activities such as watering lawns and washing cars. SWMPs are built to temporarily hold this water, provide treatment to remove the pollutants, and then slowly release it back to our waterways. http://www.collingwood.ca/node/109

Heat Refrigerator Roundup
COLLUS Power, with support from the Ontario Power Authority, is making it simple for Ontarians to do their part to conserve energy and ease the strain on the electricity by designing a program that offers to pick up older refrigerators, window air conditioners and dehumidifiers from residents of Ontario, and fully decommission them in an environmentally friendly manner.
The Great Refrigerator Roundup is a program designed to remove older, inefficient appliances from the electricity system. Generally, these older secondary fridges, located in basements or garages, are plugged in but rarely used. These older units typically use two to three times more electricity than new appliances.
